Cocoactiv is a high concentration cocoa flavanol extract that has been granted an article 13.5 claim by EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). The cocoa flavanols are exclusively sourced from West Africa due to low levels of mercury in the soil.

Cocoactiv was awarded its article 13.5 claim following the submission the study ‘Cocoa consumption dose-dependently improves flow-mediated dilation and arterial stiffness decreasing blood pressure in healthy individuals’ by Grassi et al, published in the Journal of Hypertension November 2014, alongside additional supporting epidemiological data.

The Journal of Hypertension study showed Cocoactiv had a positive effect on blood pressure, endothelial function, flow-mediated dilation and pulse wave velocity in healthy subjects after one week of consumption.
